It’s Beginning to Feel a Lot Like Christmas

There are certain evenings that mark more than just an event, they signal the beginning of something magical. For Lindon and I (and some great friends!), Wednesday 19th of November at the Royal Variety Performance was one of those nights. As the doors at the Royal Albert Hall swung open and the show began, it felt less like a theatre night and more like the official start to the festive season.
Our evening started in style, with pre-drinks at the brand-new Chancery Rosewood (huge thanks to Michael Bonsor for his warm hospitality). From there we moved to pre-show drinks at the Elgar Room at the Royal Albert Hall, setting the perfect tone for what’s to come.
Inside the hall, the atmosphere was electric. You could feel the energy from the audience and the cast from the moment the curtain rose.
The show was attended by the Prince & Princess of Wales, and hosted by Jason Manford with performances & appearances from the likes of Jessie J, Madness, Stephen Fry, Katherine Jenkins, Dr Ranj Singh, Westlife, and a brilliant finale from the 400 strong cast of Les Misérables, including an appearance from the shows legendary producer Cameron Mackintosh. We also had the joy of a panto performance starring our friends BIGGINS, Su Pollard and Lesley Joseph! The fact that members of the Royal Family were present added an extra sense of occasion and tradition to the night. What a privilege it was to be part of it.
After the curtain fell we weren’t ready for the night to end. Instead, the celebration continued with an after-show party at the magnificent Natural History Museum, a unique venue that turned a night of theatre into a full-on winter-festive celebration. Dancing, music, and good company made it a truly unforgettable evening.
Spending the night surrounded by friends, both old and new, reminded me how powerful shared experiences can be. It’s these moments that help lift our spirits and bring people together. With Christmas around the corner, this evening felt like a warm opening chapter. It’s not just about decorations and countdowns; it’s about joy, generosity, creativity, and the kind of memories that stay with you.
So as the chill sets in and the festive lights start to appear across the city, I’m carrying with me the warmth from that night. It’s beginning to feel a lot like Christmas and I couldn’t be more grateful.
Here’s to a season filled with magic, compassion, laughter and togetherness.
