A New Year, New Energy!

January has been nothing short of a whirlwind. After a brief pause over the festive period, it’s been back to work with a real bang… and I wouldn’t have it any other way. The start of a new year always brings a renewed sense of focus for me, and this month has been all about momentum, planning and laying the final foundations for what will be one of the most meaningful events of my life.
The Dr Michael Josephson MBE Farewell Ball, taking place on 14 March 2026 at the Manchester Deansgate Hotel, is now firmly in full planning mode. The pace has been fast, the to-do lists endless, but incredibly exciting.
One of the biggest highlights of January has been sharing some truly special news.
I am beyond thrilled that we can now officially announce the incredible Gabrielle as our headline performer. One of the UK’s most loved voices, Gabrielle will bring her timeless hits and unmistakable soul to the Farewell Ball. From Dreams to Rise, her music has soundtracked so many moments for so many people, and having her perform on what will be such an emotional and celebratory evening feels incredibly fitting.
This Farewell Ball marks the culmination of an extraordinary charity journey, supporting life-changing work for children and young people through our beneficiary charities: Variety, the Children’s Charity, Seashell Trust, Rainbow Trust, Mahdlo Youth Zone and The Anne Frank Trust. With the continued support of our headline sponsors Godel Technologies and Zeno, and plenty more still to be revealed, this really is shaping up to be a night to remember.
And of course, Gabrielle won’t be the only star taking to the stage.
Back in December, we announced that ‘The One and Only’ Chesney Hawkes will open the evening. His high-energy performance will set the tone perfectly – and I have no doubt the atmosphere from the very first moment will be electric.
Alongside the entertainment announcements, January has also been about driving the fundraising forward. Our Silent Auction has been gaining incredible momentum. At the time of writing, we’ve reached an amazing £91,000 – but anyone who knows me will know I’m not stopping there. There is still work to be done, and I’m determined that we push this as far as possible for the children and young people who rely on these vital funds.
January has reminded me why I do this. It’s busy. It’s demanding. But it’s also deeply rewarding. As we move further into the year, my focus remains clear; to make this Farewell Ball the most impactful yet and ensure that every pound raised truly changes lives.
Watch this space. The best is still to come!
