Recent Reflections: Momentum, Purpose and Making a Difference

As May moves forward towards June, I’ve found myself reflecting on what has been an incredibly busy, inspiring and deeply meaningful month.
From business and charity commitments to personal reflection and exciting time spent in London, this month has perfectly captured so much of what continues to drive me: purpose, progress and people.
Mental Health Awareness Week.
This month offered an especially important opportunity to pause and reflect on my own journey.
There was a time in my life when things could have turned out very differently. My experiences, particularly the events of December 1998, remain a powerful reminder of just how vital it is that nobody suffers in silence.
Sharing my story again this month was incredibly important to me because mental health awareness is not just about one week of conversation. It’s about continuing to encourage openness, compassion and support every single day.
If my journey has taught me anything, it is that even the darkest moments can be transformed into purpose, and that reaching out for help can truly change lives.
I remain passionate about using my platform to remind others that hope is always possible.
The MJ Farewell Ball Legacy Continues.
One of the most rewarding parts of May has been officially beginning the donation roll-out from the Dr Michael Josephson MBE Farewell Ball.
March’s Farewell Ball was the culmination of years of extraordinary fundraising, and seeing those funds now actively changing lives is incredibly special.
I’m proud to share some of the first donations now making a real difference:
Each of these donations represents far more than financial support.
They represent opportunity, hope and tangible change for young people, vulnerable individuals and communities who need it most.
From supporting creative opportunities through MOBO Trust, to helping bring Manchester’s first in-hospital cinema to life through MediCinema, to improving vital living conditions for young homeless women through Contact Hostel, this is exactly what the Farewell Ball has always stood for.
Turning generosity into lasting impact.
There is nothing more fulfilling than seeing fundraising translated into meaningful action.
London: Business, Charity and Connection.
I’ve recently done several fantastic trips to London, combining business, charity networking and time with wonderful friends.
London always provides such an energising environment, and these visits were a brilliant reminder of the value of connection, ambition and collaboration.
From important meetings and philanthropic discussions to exciting business opportunities, these trips were both productive and personally enriching.
Balancing professional growth with charitable purpose remains central to everything I do, and spending time with inspiring individuals who share that mindset is always hugely motivating.
Of course, making space for friendship and enjoyment along the way is equally important.
